Who’s the New Tigray Transitional Leader
13 Nov 2020 – (EP) Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced that Dr. Mulu Nega has been appointed as leader of Provisional Administration of Tigray National Regional State.
The Chief Executive will have the power to recruit and appoint heads to lead executive organs of the regional state from political parties legally operating in the region, the premier underlined.
But who is Mulu Nega?
Mulu Nega has a PhD, a real one unlike the TPLF officials, in higher education policy from the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies, University of Twente, the Netherlands.
His dissertation is on ‘Quality and Quality Assurance in Ethiopian higher Education: Critical Issues and Practical Implications’.
He has authored a number of journal articles, book chapters and conference proceedings on quality issues in Ethiopian education. Moreover, he undertook a variety of consultancy services for governmental and non-governmental organizations.
From 2002 until today, he was an assistant professor at the Institute of Educational Research, Addis Ababa University.
In addition to his academic position, he had held various administrative positions such as Director of the Center for Academic Standards and Quality Enhancement, Addis Ababa University, Head of the Testing & Measurement Services Center in Addis Ababa University, and Coordinator of donor-funded projects.
