Chadwick Boseman died at his home in Los Angels area with his wife and family by his side, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told the associated press.

Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer years ago , his family said in statment, He had never spoken in publicly about his diagnosis.

“A true fighter, Chadwick preserved through it all and brought you many of the films you have to come to love so much,” his family said in statement. “From Marshal to Da 5 bloods , August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black bottom and Several more–all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and Chemotherapy. It was the honor his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”

His death comes amid the nation’s emotional reckoning with racial justice and on baseball’s Jackie Robinson day, in which every player in a big leagues wears No.42. He portrayed the legendary Brooklyn Dodger in the Brian Helgelard- directed drama 42.

In such a short time, Boseman proves eearly adapt at capturing the essence of great Americans, wheyer it be Robinson; Supreme court Justice Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017), directed sby Reginald Hudin ; or soul icon James Brown in Get on Up (2014).

Most recently, Boseman took a turn in Spike Lee’s latest, the June release Da 5 Bloods, as “Stormin” Norman Earl Holloway,na US freedom fighter in the Vietnam War.

Sad and shocked to hear the Sudden and untimely transition of our brother Chadwick. He left us away too early. the year for 43 is a number but it is the year in the history of the planet. I don’t dare to open the momory of the whole 43 years in the mind of great brother but I know you are the innocent. Brother, Chadwick 43 is so early, I saw your energy. It is unfair to miss you such in hurry but we shall meet. Happy to know that you are in such transition from being human to hero to visit the real spirit(blood) of our ancestor.
